How does the whole thing work? It's an opportunity to meet 5-6 attorneys, who are serious about wanting to answer your questions. You will speak with (date) each attorney for four minutes, giving you the opportunity to get answers to your legal questions and determine if you need further legal help.
Is four minutes per date long enough? Four minutes turns out to be the perfect amount of time. Four minutes is short enough to give everyone a chance to chat with the attorney and long enough to get an idea if you need to contact the attorney for more advice. We want you to have a fun, but also get answers to your questions.
How many dates will I get at the SCWCSHRM event? You will normally get between 5-6 dates, depending on the topic you are interested in. You may not want to spend time with an attorney that specializes in Workers’ Compensation law, but would prefer to speak with the attorney that specialized in immigration law.
Why do I need to book in advance? We need to ensure an even balance of members to attorneys. We also need to know what your questions are. You may submit them when you register. You must register online prior to the quarterly meeting. You can pay at the door if you are registered.
What happens at the event? When you arrive you will be welcomed by the SCWCSHRM Board of Directors, checked in and given a personalized numbered (Speeding Ticket) name badge and a pen. When everyone has arrived one of the Board members will do a short introductory welcoming speech, explain some of the logistics and explain how to use your Speeding Ticket. Lunch will be served at noon and the dating will begin around 1:00 p.m.
Once the dating part starts, those with badge number one will sit at table number one, those with badge number two at table number two and so on. After four minutes, we ring a bell, the lawyers will stay seated and all the participants will move to the next table. This continues until you have had a chance to speak with each lawyer.
Can I bring a friend? Yes of course. Be sure to register your friend on the SCWCSHRM website.
How long does the SCWCSHRM event last? We do our best to keep the event running to schedule which means the event will last just under two hours. Generally an event will start close to 1:00 pm and finish between 2:30 and 3 pm.
